Important ICAD Announcements

Recommendation made to the ICAD and Business Partnership Boards that the operations of our two entities be formally merged and upcoming leadership change

Dear ICAD Investors,

On October 20th, Kim Casko (President of the Iowa City Area Business Partnership) and I, along with our board chairs, made a recommendation to our boards that the operations of our two entities be formally merged by July 1, 2023. As many of you know, this has been explored in the past and the collective work done by our organizations during the pandemic has further highlighted the need to align resources for greater impact.  With the launch of the Better Together 2030 All In Vision this summer, we believe a merged entity will be better positioned to tackle our community’s biggest challenges – the workforce shortage, affordable housing, and availability of childcare being among those commonly cited by business leaders. Our boards will vote on this recommendation at their November Board meetings and, if approved, organization design work will commence.

Additionally, after 10 years at ICAD, I announced that I will be resigning as President to pursue a new opportunity as a consultant and advocate for the wellbeing of individuals, organizations and communities. I’ll be sharing more specifics in the months to come but I wanted to take a moment to thank all the incredible community leaders and organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside.

I will be moving into a new role as of January 9th, 2023, and will serve as a part time consultant for the Better Together 2030 All In Vision work. I will be assisting with implementation, particularly focusing on expanding partnerships with the community and the University of Iowa. In addition, should the merger move forward, I will continue to support that work in a consulting role for ICAD and the Business Partnership. Tom Banta will assume the interim role of President of ICAD in January, pending approval in November.

I firmly believe we have a greater impact when we work together, and the merger is the right step for our community. I look forward to championing that work from a new seat. Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out, we are grateful for the support of our investors.

With gratitude,
