GayTravel.com announced that Think Iowa City, the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, is an official nominee in the US Destination City category for the 2021 Gay Travel Awards.
Nominated for the award are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Iowa City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, and San Francisco.
“To see ‘Iowa City, Iowa’ listed among the greatest destination cities in the world, like San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Chicago, speaks volumes to what our city means to the gay community and to the fantastic hospitality we offer to all travelers,” said Nick Pfeiffer, Vice President of Think Iowa City.
GayTravel Chief Visionary Officer Steve Rohrlick said: “This year is another difficult year for travelers. With the pandemic ebbing and flowing across the globe along with the newest variants, many are restricted from traveling or are waiting for a safer time. The Gay Travel Awards affords us all a moment to focus on the industry’s best as a prologue to getting back out there.”
Now in their 6th year, The Gay Travel Awards are considered the equivalent of “The Oscar’s®” for LGBTQ+ travel and are globally recognized as THE travel-related awards for the community. They were created to recognize select properties, destinations, tours, and events for both their spirit of inclusiveness and diversity as well as for their exemplary customer service and hospitality excellence.
The GayTravel Awards also serve to inspire companies and brands around the world to continually raise their safety and service levels and amenities while encouraging a broad spirit of inclusiveness.
Public voting is officially open on the Gay Travel Awards website and will remain open through December 26, 2021.
