Procter & Gamble Beauty Care Continues Innovation and Sustainability Efforts, Seeking Innovative Team Members

Procter & Gamble’s Iowa City Beauty Care plant is focused on the future. Two years ago P&G announced their intention to grow innovation efforts at their Iowa City plant. Since then, the plant has put a focus on developing sustainable beauty care innovations that are specifically designed to meet the needs of both P&G’s consumers and the environment.

“We are always looking ahead to meet our consumers’ changing needs. We take pride in our culture of innovation and have worked hard to set up our manufacturing systems so that our local team can easily adapt to emerging needs with innovative products.” – Jason Jackson, Plant Manager, P&G Iowa City Beauty Care.

One new product, EC-30, is a visionary approach to product design created by the mastery of P&G researchers and technologists. EC-30 uses dissolvable fibers to replace water-based products as we know them today. Backed by 50 patents, the innovation integrates ingredients into fibers rather than suspending them in water until they are ready to be used.

“EC-30 represents a realm of futuristic products that have been designed specifically to serve the needs of our consumers and the environment. The product’s journey to carbon neutral encompasses a reduced number of ingredients which lowers the environmental impact due to sourcing, zero plastic bottles, no added water which makes it lighter to transport, and manufacturing it in a fully renewable electrical energy location in Iowa City,” said Jackson.

As P&G’s innovation efforts continue, the local team has plans to grow. The Iowa City plant is looking to hire 50 new team members in January and February. Open positions include Production Technicians with wages starting at $21.16/hour + profit sharing. P&G is also looking for electrical/power control & engineering experience.

“Procter & Gamble continues to be a pillar employer in the Iowa City area. With high-quality jobs and a culture of innovation, P&G is truly invested in their people and this community. We’re excited to see their continued success and growth here locally.” – Kate Moreland, President, Iowa City Area Development Group.
